The supercritical Galton-Watson process in varying environments - Seneta-Heyde norming

A natural sufficient condition is given for a Galton-Watson process in a varying environment to have a single rate of growth that obtains throughout the survival set of the process. In the homogeneous process the growth rate is provided by the usual Seneta-Heyde norming.

The Critical Galton–watson Process without Further Power Moments

In this paper we prove a conditional limit theorem for a critical Galton–Watson branching process {Zn; n ≥ 0} with offspring generating function s + (1− s)L((1− s)−1), where L(x) is slowly varying. In contrast to a well-known theorem of Slack (1968), (1972) we use a functional normalization, which gives an exponential limit. We also give an alternative proof of Sze’s (1976) result on the asympt...

The structure of the allelic partition of the total population for Galton-Watson processes with neutral mutations

We consider a (sub-)critical Galton–Watson process with neutral mutations (infinite alleles model), and decompose the entire population into clusters of individuals carrying the same allele. We specify the law of this allelic partition in terms of the distribution of the number of clone-children and the number of mutant-children of a typical individual. The approach combines an extension of Har...
